Provides a range of skills for accessing and working on stage structures, including the use of all safety equipment plus evacuation and rescue of others.
This course includes the elements of a Safe System of Work, including equipment and PPE selection and inspection, use of suitable tools, risk assessments, method statements and emergency procedures combined with practical exercises and classroom lectures.
The course consists of all syllabus TFP0 - Introduction to personal fall protection (WAHSA), plus various other theoretical lessons and practical tasks, including:
Legal, personal and medical requirements for work at height.
Risk assessment, method statements and emergency procedures.
Selection, care and maintenance of PPE.
Climbing techniques, ladder and structure including basic progression along a truss.
Restraint, work positioning, fall arrest systems.
Use of ropes and knots.
Emergency procedures
Rescue after a fall
Proper execution of simulated work task.
Competent rescue of casualty from structure
Ensuring safety of self and others.
This course may help provide background knowledge for the working at height section of the PLASA National Rigging Certificate.
medical requirements
Physical fitness with no contra-indications for working at height. A self-certified statement of reasonable medical fitness will be required prior to attendance.

Candidates should undertake a medical examination before working at height. Candidates should be comfortable with exposure to heights.
